Defining the Future of Mobility.

Born in the heart of Malé, Avas began as a simple observation: mobility in the Maldives shouldn't be a challenge. It should be an opportunity.

In 2024, a small team led by Mohamed Yaniu and Hassan Rameez set out to build something the Maldives had never truly had: a mobility platform designed, developed, and owned in the Maldives. Not a borrowed solution. Not a template stretched to fit our islands. A homegrown app, built from the ground up for the way we actually live and move.

We believed our country deserved more control over how its technology worked. More say in how drivers earned. More care in how riders experienced every tap. So we rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

On 10 January 2025, that work went live. Avas App was officially introduced at a launch event in Malé, a fully homegrown platform shaped by Maldivian drivers, riders, and neighbours. Every feature was built with real people in mind. Safety features like call masking keep phone numbers private. New vehicle categories make room for every kind of journey, from quick motorcycle hops to comfortable family vans. And Avas Cycle Girls, a women only ride option, makes sure every passenger, on every trip, can feel at home.

We didn't stop at the basics. With the support of Bank of Maldives, we introduced card payments so riders could tap and go. And in partnership with the Maldives Association of Persons with Disabilities (MAPD), we launched the Avas Accessibility Van, because mobility that isn't for everyone isn't really mobility at all.

And we're not done. Avas Bites and Avas Express are coming soon, bringing the same care, craft, and community first thinking to the way we eat and the way we send. One app. Everyday life, made simpler.

Today, from our office in Hulhumalé, Avas connects passengers and drivers across the greater Malé region. Every feature we ship is shaped by a single idea: that world class technology should empower local livelihoods, respect our culture, and move the Maldives forward, together.

We're still a small team with a big vision. Only now, the vision belongs to all of us.
