What Are Emergency Alerts?

Avas App's Safety Toolkit allows you to access emergency services, customer support, and send emergency alerts with live ride tracking. When activated, the system automatically notifies your pre-selected emergency contacts via SMS with your current ride status and location information.

How Emergency Alerts Work

When you're on a ride and an emergency situation occurs, You can send a SMS to your emergency contacts with:

"ALERT: Your emergency contact has shared their ride location with you. Track their ride in real-time here: [live tracking link]"


What Your Contacts Receive:

  • Immediate SMS alert with your ride status

  • Live tracking link to monitor your journey in real-time

  • Driver and vehicle information for added security

  • Continuous location updates throughout the emergency

Setting Up Emergency Contacts

Step 1: Access Safety Toolkit

  1. Open your Avas App

  2. Navigate to the Safety Toolkit section

  3. Tap on "Add Emergency Contact"

Step 2: Add Your Emergency Contact

You have two options to add emergency contacts:

Option A: Select from Contact List

  1. Browse your phone contacts - Choose from your existing contacts

  2. Select the contact - Tap on the person you want to add

  3. Verify contact details - Confirm their information is current

Option B: Add Manually

  1. Enter Full Name - The name of your trusted contact

  2. Enter Phone Number - Their mobile number (with country code +960 for Maldives)

  3. Verify Information - Double-check all details are correct

Step 3: Confirm Consent

Before adding the contact, you must confirm: "By tapping Add emergency contact, you confirm that we have this person's permission to send them ride details in the Avas App or via SMS."

Important Notes:

  • ⚠️ Emergency contacts will NOT be saved to your device's address book

  • 📱 Contacts receive notifications via SMS regarding your rides

  • Only add contacts who have given permission to receive emergency alerts

  • 🔐 Information is kept secure and only used for emergency notifications
